Design/Working Principles
The 17AME thermal protector and the PTC element are connected in parallel, and this combined circuit is then connected in series with the load (motor). During normal motor operation, the PTC does not generate significant heat.

When an abnormal condition (overheating or overcurrent) occurs in the load, the 17AME thermal protector trips open. At this moment, the PTC element heats up, reaching a high temperature and a correspondingly high resistance. The sustained heat from the PTC keeps the 17AME protector in its tripped (open‑circuit) state, causing the load to stop operating.
After the power supply is manually disconnected, the PTC begins to cool down. Once it has cooled sufficiently after a period of time, the 17AME protector resets automatically. When power is subsequently reapplied, the load resumes normal operation.
